Making July healthy
July is the official month for grilling outside, baked beans, hotdogs, ice cream, and blueberries. What a great way to spend a day with friends and family since it is also national picnic month.
There are lots of great recipes online to make your outing special. For example, search for recipes like blueberry lemonade or blueberry kale quinoa salad. For a fun family activity, consider making homemade ice cream for dessert. Or invite family and friends over for an ice cream social and ask each person to bring one ice cream topping to add a variety to the ice cream sundaes. Don’t forget the blueberries which are full of antioxidants.
Whatever you do, make it healthy and safe but don’t invite mosquitoes. Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothes, and choose a mosquito repellent that is registered by the Environmental Protection Agency, to be sure it poses minimal risk to human safety.
Have a yummy and healthy July!
