Happy
Marriage Week! [Bulletin
date: February 8, 2026]
National Marriage Week (Feb. 7-14) and World Marriage Day (Sunday, Feb. 8) are opportunities to focus on building a culture of life and love that begins with supporting and promoting marriage and the family. The USCCB (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops) has designated this year’s theme to be "Man and Woman He Created Them: Together with Purpose."
Statistics have proven that marriage matters to society. On average, married people are happier, healthier, and more financially stable. Children do better overall when they live with two married parents. However, marriage takes effort as two people learn to live, love, and grow as one.
A good marriage is in constant need of nurturing and growth. It is important to practice ways to keep a marriage healthy and happy. One way is having weekly or monthly “date nights”. Choose a special day (such as the monthly full moon) or a date (perhaps the same date as your wedding anniversary) and do something special with each other. Consider doing something special for Valentine’s Day by renewing your commitment to marriage by reciting your vows again. Not only is this good for your relationship but it is a wonderful example to your children.
Marriage is not always easy, and many marriages struggle. However, it is important to recognize this and seek support and help through counseling as soon as possible. Programs such as Retrouvaille have helped strengthen and save many marriages.
