When you should "bother" someone

If you “don’t want to bother anyone” ... perhaps you should?  [Bulletin date: August 16, 2026]

All too often we hear stories of someone falling or not feeling well but they decide not to “bother” their family or friends. Unfortunately, many times the outcome of the story is not good.  Perhaps they fell and hit their head or hip. Initially they may have “felt fine”, but then symptoms start that lead to an emergency or even worse, if internal injuries are not addressed.

Sometimes a person is running a fever, has chest or abdominal pain, or flu-like symptoms, and thinks the symptoms will simply go away, but they don’t. Not telling someone and postponing treatment may lead to serious, possibly long-term health issues or even death. This is especially true for anyone taking medications such as blood thinners and other heart medications.

So, don’t be afraid of “crying wolf”. Let others know if something has happened or if you are not feeling well. Don’t postpone medical evaluation if something out of the ordinary happens, even if it seems minor. It might just save your life!
