Women's health awareness

Women’s Health Awareness                                                 [Bulletin date: October 11, 2026]

October is well known for breast cancer awareness, but at St. Ann it is a time to celebrate the overall health and wellness of women. Issues such as breast and ovarian cancer, osteoporosis, heart disease, and diabetes are significant health issues for every woman. Regular health screenings and health care visits are vital in keeping a woman physically healthy.

But caring for the mind and spirit is just as important. Making time for “self-care” is vital.  Perhaps a personal quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday routine is all one needs. This could be a weekend away with the girls, a date with a spouse, a walk outside before the family wakes up, or a 15-minute daily prayer time or Bible study hiding in a walk-in closet.

Whatever you choose to do, do it for yourself. Remember, women’s health and wellness is not just about disease prevention. It is an awareness of the interconnectedness between family, faith, physical health, work, nutrition, exercise, and emotions. This is called “integrated health” – something we all need to have.
