The longer you live, the longer you will live!

The longer you live,

the longer you will live!

It’s true.  The average life expectancy in the US is currently 77.5 years.  If you have already reached that age, most likely you will live long into your 80s and 90s.  So, now is the time to embrace the beauty and positive aspects of aging and to rejuvenate your physical, social, financial, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Here are some tips for healthy aging:
1)     Stay positive in your thoughts and conversations and avoid others who are not.
2)     Learn a new skill or take a class on something you always wanted to learn to do but never had the time or opportunity.
3)      Increase your social activities by volunteering or meeting regularly with friends for meals or coffee.
4)      Join a Bible study group or take a class in computers or new technology such as cell phones or photography.
5)     Start a new habit such as exercise or walking.
6)     Eat healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
7)      If you smoke, STOP. Your body begins to heal just 20 minutes after your last cigarette!
8)     Keep up with health check-ups, including dental care.
9)     Maintain healthy sleep habits – no napping during the day, keep your bedroom dark and cool, and avoid caffeine and alcohol in the evening.

And finally, look in the mirror, see the youthful spirit inside, and keep on smiling!

Here’s to a long and prosperous life.  For more information go to www.healthyaging.net.
