Women’s Health Awareness has a triple focus!

When we hear the term “women’s health”, we often think of physical health such as cancer and heart disease. This makes sense because they are the leading causes of death in American women. For that reason, it is important to care for our physical health by having routine check-ups, staying physically active, eating healthy, not smoking, and minimizing risky behaviors. However, there are two other health aspects which are also important: mental and spiritual health.

Being mentally healthy starts with getting adequate and restful sleep. In addition, managing stress and seeking medical help for depression and anxiety are key to mental health. Being socially active and keeping healthy relationships are also important. A girls’ night out with friends or a date night with your spouse can boost your mental well-being.

A healthy spirituality balances a woman’s overall health. Spiritual health may include religious activities such as Bible studies. Or it may simply include making time to quietly reflect and unwind. This in turn helps to recharge your inner energy and improve your productivity.

There are many approaches on how to be a healthy woman in mind, body and spirit. Stop by the table in the narthex this weekend for more ideas. Then, make a date with yourself to do something that is rewarding, something that brings you pleasure and peace. This will certainly help you become a better YOU!
