Just a little knowledge of what to do in an emergency could save a life

While at St. Ann take time to locate our sixty-three fire extinguishers, five AEDs, numerous first aid kits, and written emergency instructions posted throughout the campus. These are available in the event of a fire, heart attack, or other medical emergency.

When an emergency occurs, always call 911. While emergency personnel are on the way to St. Ann, the 911 operator can assist a caller by giving basic first aid and CPR instructions. The written instructions found near every AED is location-specific so that when speaking with the 911 operator, you can tell them where the emergency is on campus.

AEDs are needed when someone collapses due to a heart attack. They are safe and easy to use because the lights and voice prompts clearly tell the rescuer what to do. AEDs are in the narthex, the Nolan Hall/pre-school hallway, the gym/music office hallway, the Launch hallway near the restrooms, and in the Scout Lodge. First aid kits are located near each AED.

Throughout the building, fire extinguishers are mounted either directly on the walls or within the walls behind glass doors. You may wish to learn more about the proper use a fire extinguisher. Search on YouTube or click on Click Here to view a Youtube video on fire extinguisher safety.

Finally, follow up after an emergency at St. Ann is important. Please notify Linda the parish nurse at extension 6019 if you have responded to an emergency, or called 911, or have used any of the emergency equipment or supplies.
