Dental Hygiene Month

A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind and Body           [Bulletin date: October 12, 2025]

That is the theme to Dental Hygiene Awareness Month – a time to raise awareness of the overall importance of good oral health. Poor oral hygiene can lead to a negative quality of life due to limite
d food choices, stress, anxiety and decreased socialization.  However, a healthy mouth can contribute to positive mental well-being because it can boost self-esteem and confidence.  Therefore, caring for your teeth and gums can significantly improve your overall happiness.

Fresh breath, strong teeth, and healthy gums are essential for good oral health so consider the “daily 4 – brush, floss, rinse, and chew”.   It is recommended, on a daily basis, to at least brush twice, floss once, rinse with mouthwash, and even chew sugar-free gum after meals to remove any fragments of food left behind when brushing is not an option.

And don’t forget regular oral check-ups with dental professionals. Because the mouth and body are closely interconnected, tooth decay and gum disease can lead to other, more serious health issues such as heart disease and serious infections.  Therefore, maintaining oral health is important for overall physical health too.

So, what is the goal of good oral hygiene?  To make everyone smile—inside and out!
