A New Year and a New
YOU [Bulletin date: January 4,
2026]
Now that the
new year is here, it is a great time for a fresh start. However, be careful not to make resolutions
that become overwhelming and hard to maintain.
Consider something specific that you want to change, then share your
decision with others who will encourage and support you through your
efforts. Focus on substituting good
behavior for one that is not so good and
then record and track how well you did with the changed behavior.
With great resolutions, self-care and well-being may go hand in hand. For example, if you make a resolution to move more and get more exercise, your “happy hormones” (endorphins) increase which will improve your emotional well-being. Consider taking a yoga class, learning to dance, or making a priority to walk more. You will find that not only are you moving more, your focus on life and your surroundings will improve.
When thinking about improving your mind, be creative and change your regular routine. This will bring a fresh approach to the new year. Perhaps you could take a cooking or gardening class or maybe volunteer at an animal shelter or with another worthy cause on a regular basis.
Most of all,
remember to be kind to yourself, breathe, and practice gratitude for a new year
and a new opportunity. Make the new year
a year for a new YOU!
